Skate Canada Registration

All users must be registered members of Skate Canada: Coaches and Skaters. You may be asked for proof of registration. Only certified coaches are permitted to teach skaters on the ice or even by rink-side. Angela or Jamie are permitted to ask to see coaching certification for a coach. Parents are not permitted to be teaching skaters by the boards. Parents are not permitted to be teaching skaters by the boards, as per Skate Canada regulations and there are no exceptions, unless NCCP Certified.

Fees and Payment

The fee for ice usage is $10.00 per hour of usage starting on the hour or half hour only. If 1.5 hours of ice is used, 2 hours must be paid for upon leaving the building. Users must sign the clip board and place exact payment into the envelope slot with the name signed on the envelope. Failure to adhere to this will result in a $5.00 administration fee.

If Angela Derochie and Jamie Forsythe are not in the arena, on duty GTSA coaching staff are in charge and permitted to remind or check to see if ice is paid.

Questions or Concerns about Ticket Ice.

If a Coach or Parent has a complaint about Ticket Ice, it must be directed to Jamie Forsythe or Angela Derochie. Coaches or Parents should not go to Arena Management.

Flood times have been set and arena staff have made plans as to when the floods will take place. These are not to be re-arranged unless done so by a director of GTSA. The only time a flood will be changed or cancelled is if the ice has not been used. Coaches, please allow time for floods when scheduling lessons.

Ticket Ice Etiquette

Right of way on the ice is to be as follows;

Skater with music playing

Skater in a lesson,

Skater on their own.

There will be no excessive use of music to gain right of way. Maximum 2 run-throughs per session will be given right of way. This is to make ice use fair. There will be, no kicking the ice or the boards. There will be no yelling unless it is a ‘correction reminder to a skater’ or encouragement. Swearing will not be tolerated. If it is a busy session: Coaches are not permitted to teach in the middle of the ice.

Skaters are to practice spins in the middle of the ice. Skaters are permitted and encouraged to say excuse me, when they have right of way. CanSkaters or Star1 must be taught by the boards and in a lesson with a coach. The goal is to create a positive and hardworking training environment for athletes. Respect to all coaches and skaters is demanded.

A skate must be able to pass badge 5 Canskate skills in order to have the stability and skating knowledge to be able to practice without the use of a CSA helmet. This is a Skate Canada rule implemented for safety.

All questions or concerns can be emailed to gtsaskating@gmail.com As a user, you must agree to the above terms.
